Biscuits


2 c. flour
3 ts. baking powder
1/2 ts. salt
1/2 c. shortening
3/4 c. milk

In a mixing bowl, thoroughly stir together flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender or fork til mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Make a well in the senter of the dry mixture; add milk all at once. Stir with a fork just til the doough clings together and follows the fork around the bowl. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface; knead it gently 10-12 strokes. Roll or pat the dough to 1/2" thick. Cut the dough with a floured 2 1/2" biscuit cutter, rerolling as needed. Place on ungreased baking sheet; bake at 450 for 12 min. or until golden brown. Makes 8
