Indian Fry Bread


2 c flour
1 Tbs sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 c warm milk
1 Tbs oil

Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt. Stir in milk and oil. On floured surface, knead dough 8-10 strokes or until smooth. Roll out to an 8" sq. Cut into 16, 2" squares. Cut diagonally to form triangles. Make small slit in center of each; use fingers to open slits. Deep fry about 1 minute on each side or until golden brown. Sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired.
